Each year, in addition to having a wonderful time partying for 26.2/13.5 miles, we also help some amazing causes. Through the support of our participants and volunteers, we have given lots of financial help to some amazing organizations. The Conway FOP and Maumelle FOP were the recipients of some winter weather gear to stay warm, we were able to make a donation to Arkansas Hospice, and this year, we hope to make a sizeable donation to NAMI-Arkansas to help those that deal with mental health issues in our state.
The Loco Marathon/Half Marathon ran it's inaguaral race on
January 25th, 2014. It was the brainchild of a group of runners that were in Memphis for the weather-cancelled St. Jude Marathon. Some of those runners were at St. Jude to qualify for either Marathon Maniacs or Half Fanatics, but there was not another race close enough and soon enough to qualify. The Loco was born!
We're back again in 2022!
The annual loop-de-loop of Tucker Creek Trail in Conway, Arkansas, Loco is a laid back race with ample aid station support, approximately every half mile. We offer both full and half marathon distances. And with an eight hour time limit for both it's the perfect choice for a first full. (We are walker friendly!) Plus, at only $45 for either race, Loco is a bargain! All participants (that register in time) will receive shirts and finisher bling. Awards will be given to the top three finishers for each distance, male and female.
Due to COVID-19 we're implementing changes to the 2022 race:
1. We ask that all racers wear a mask until the race starts and the crowd starts to move. There will be trash cans along the course for disposal.
2. We will be implementing corrals based on expected finish time. Pacers will be spread throughout the corrals with signs to help you.
Loco is Marathon Maniacs and Half Fanatics eligible if you participate on race day. We MAY have a limited number of openings for virtual racers in each distance. Virtual participants will receive a finishers medal but no shirt. (Please note that virtual races are not eligible for MM/HF due to their rules.)
